Sorry for the lull. Right after that last batch of pages went up the Real Life Grandma Lillian died in typical Bell family fashion; it was an overlong, brutal, and undignified end to a life chewed up by machinery intended to do exactly that, and although I’ve been estranged for a couple years now her death triggered a small cascade of family events that occupied a bit of my time. I feel like this comic is already the equivalent of me spilling my guts all over the internet so I’m not going to get into the details, and I’d really prefer it if you didn’t tell me you’re Sorry, but it feels important to mention it here I guess. If I can get even one other person out before they end like this I feel like it’s a worthwhile thing to do with my own life. Thank you for reading <3

Toulouse going on about how everything is sinful and sucks and is meaningless compared to moth god loving you and how suffering is a consequence of being righteousness in a world where the majority of people will suffer forever, and then this asshole going on about how you’re a burden to the world??? The world is also inherently evil or whatever did you not have enough reasons to condemn everything you don’t know or understand or even just like?

  I did actually hit a point writing down all this church stuff where I realized none of this shit makes sense even with me twisting it around to fit the setting, like just presented objectively the doctrine keeps contradicting itself? I really hate the Gotcha Atheists who run around going OOOH THE BIBLE HAS ONE THOUSAND LOGICAL FALLACIES or whatever but also man if I read this religion in a fantasy setting as something someone invented for fiction I’d assume the writer was just sloppy lol
  
  Obviously I wrote Toulouse’s scene myself, but this bit is another segment taken straight from the source, Davis’ dialogue in this scene is a fairly infamous real sermon called “Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God”. The original is pretty lengthy but it’s a fascinating read if absolutely unhinged.

    I thought some of that fire and brimstone sounded familiar! We had to read Sinners in the Hands of an Angry God in highschool English class. (The lesson did not mention that these beliefs are still current and not just Creepy Puritan Shit.)
