Just want to say that in taking swings at the hypocrisy in many churches, you’ve also managed to unearth a few of the things they so often miss in the Bible. Nowhere near perfectly, but you’re closer to the actual truth than those who would tell you “how it’s going to be.”

Just wanted to encourage you there. I know it’s hard to give these things much credence when those who you grew up under slandered and misused them.

  I appreciate that! To be honest, I think the bible itself has a lot of fascinating stuff going on, my ocd started out as scrupulosity when I was a little kid so I’ve spent a ton of time turning these ideas over from both sides of the fence haha. To make a really nuanced issue simple enough for a comment section I honestly don’t think Christianity is much different from other religions as far as the content goes, everybody’s got positives and negatives; it’s really the American marketing that’s doing the damage. The way it’s treated (here in the south at least) is like promoting a Tarantino film with a Disney trailer, like. of course we’re gonna run into issues lmao

    I can understand that. It especially doesn’t help when said advertising is backed by hilarious amounts of blatant hypocrisy. Anyone who digs through a few books in the Bible is going to start having questions for the “holier-than-thou” who seem to think they have it all together…
