Hey is Sergei a Gunsmith? Kutnetsov is the derived Russian word for blacksmith, in the same way the english last name smith is. He doesn’t really seem like the kind of fighter Ellie and Her mother are, Not being a blazing guradian. But he does own a Custom shotgun with alternating barrel sizes, And maybe Ellies Moms mini-gun she received though the Army, but the Alt text about Magical girls not using mini-guns makes me think it’s a custom make.

Admittedly I don’t know any gunsmiths so I don’t know if it’s practice to have a specialty or a theme, but Sergeis seems to be alternating ammo sizes. With the Shotgun having drasticly altered barrel sizes, (one of which fires blanks ’cause otherwise he would have blown a hole in the roof back in that Bar fight) And Ellies Mom bullets are different sizes, it’s not so evident in the last panel but in 2 and 3 you can see it pretty well.

The Relevance of him being a gunsmith to the story is he’s probably going to fix Ulrichs gun. Ulrich mentioning he held up that old lady’s gunpowder shipment for components makes me think one of his guns in broken, and i’m not sure, but I think he’s only been using the flintlock and not the other one.
