Another batch update after this one, sorry! Or maybe you guys like those? I dunno. I’m not a Super Fan, but things have been too busy for single pages lately. I hope y’all have been having a good time.

  I’m glad it’s not unpleasant at least! Lots of folks like updates with several pages at once for good reasons but for me personally they tend to be really difficult.
  
  Plus, for entirely selfish reasons, posting several times a week is fun because then I get to hear from you guys more! A whole week+ without site activity makes the place feel lonesome hehe.

    On the one hand reading multiple pages at once is better for understanding the pages. (It’s kinda why I don’t really mind when Comic Rocket actually lands me on the page before “current”, it makes sure memory is refreshed as to the situation(s).) On the other hand, impatience and wanting more constantly is also a factor. (WANT. MAOR. NAO.)

      Yeah I agree! For me, the impatience wins out most of the time haha. I also have trouble with stage fright when there’s more time between pages. Like, if we have to wait a whole week for a page people think isn’t too interesting it’s a lot more disappointing than when another one will show up in two days.
      
      Additionally, I obsess over things if I don’t have a quick deadline. Threeish pages a week means I have to go at p much breakneck speed, which means I don’t have time for second guessing and nitpicking into oblivion. It’s been very good for my output.

First weird thing is there are apparently five entitys in close vicinity to each other that Phin should be able to see. Herself/Brokenspectre, Hazard, Hazards Star, Artemis and The Compass. But only Four are shown close together. Phin and Specter have to share a light cause they’re fused, but one’s still missing. (It’s the giant blue spiral at the bottom of the page covered by sparkle hell)

We can pretty safely say that the leaky star-shaped star is hazards, what with all the black gunk bleeding out of it. Artemis is fairly obvious as well, being the only rock shaped entity present, as well as that rock being his/hers/what-ever-rocks-identify-as signature color.

The interesting one is that the smaller more stable sun Is probably Phineas/Brokenspectre. We’ve actually seen what Phin’s soul looks like before (at least an incredibly tiny version) waaay back on page 292. That star is the exact same one. It’s very tempting to choose the larger more unstable star cause Phin is a powerhouse and you’d imagine she’s not doing to hot right now emotionally; BUT but but but that ain’t her colour, and she’s not unstable right now. Phineas colour is a very light gold (just look at the Tain on the site banner if you need a reference) AND right now she’s sort of in cool-down mode, she’s contemplative not angry, like you would expect a flaring sun to be.

Hazards star is way down the bottom of the page, it’s the spirally thing. There are sort of a limited number of spirally things in space, it can’t be a galaxy cause that’s like a billion+ stars and if hazard is throwing around that kind of power he really doesn’t need to be messing around with smoke and mirrors. The only real plausible option is that’s a black hole. or in this case a blue hole. If it is, that-makes-so-many-things-make-sense-holy-crap. It explains why hazard has a star in his skull but isn’t a commander, why he looks like the life’s been sucked out of him, and his presence feels like you’re being compressed in an anaerobic environment.

The large unstable star is most likely the star entity currently inside Phineas compass. We were shown very recently that the compass was given to Phineas by Crow Gideon. We also know that Crows star isn’t attached to him at all, and that stars can be “compacted” into very small objects, eg Crows Necklace. So it’s not to much of a stretch to think that Phin is carrying around a star in her coat pocket.
We also know that stars shine, as in the portal in an object that leads to the stars location lets out light. (Hazards and Brokenspecters faces respectively) Phineas compass also shines with a similar light. But who is this star?

We know from Jocasta and Hazards conversation that a member of Crows crew tried to kill themselves, it’s heavily implied that it’s Crow as according to Jocasta no one else survived the apocalypse, and there are only three members left. While it is possible that Jocasta was referring to herself, her phrasing makes me think it’s Crow. “Someone tried already, it was a goddamn mess” As far as we know Jocasta doesn’t have any major scarring over her body, her status as a Doctor means she can patch herself up perfectly. But we know that she can’t completely heal extreme wounds, as quoting hazard:
“Your technique is nearly flawless, her scars may be hidden well enough from most people” and “I saw her closely, her neck, her back, that girl burned”
Confirm that there can be scarring even after being healed. When we first see Crow his face and hands are scarred to shit… possibly the aftermath of a goddamn mess?
If Crows star is whats keeping him from dying, then it would make sense that he would try and get rid of it. He gave his star to Phineas, by putting it in a compass.

I chose to believe the stars in the background aren’t really in the background and are actually the souls of the fish currently nibbling on Phineas.

The reason Hazards star is away from the others and hidden behind sparkles and facial features is hazards star isn’t fused to his body, and currently exists on another plane, so it makes sense that it wouldn’t be in orbit with the other stellar enitys.. his hollow eye is the portal to that plane, because literally storing a star in your head is kinda impossible and also fatal. Broken-specter presumably also exists on another plane, But is fused with phineas through their portal.

    wow this is a pretty good theory. Not a lot I can say, pretty much covered everything. I’d hesitate to say that it was Crow that Jo was referencing though. While it seems plausible because she’s a hermit, and so wouldn’t have much interaction with people (except gideon and phin), we don’t know for how long she’s been this way. Maybe she learned this a couple hundred years ago? It certainly seems like it could be Crow, however.
    
    Regarding Jocasta’s healing technique, I think the physical wounds she can heal perfectly, but non-physical scarring possibly not as much? (Memories, emotions, etc.) A traumatic event like that might not be possible for Jo to heal the effects of, and Hazard would be able to see it (because magic? Honestly emotion/mind reading doesn’t even seem that weird for Hazard to know, and he’s certainly powerful enough. Also, Phin kinda wears her inside thoughts on her sleeve)

      Since this has been heavily implied in the comic already I’ll go ahead and confirm: Jo can heal pretty much any sort of wound cosmetically. But certain kinds of damage affect different aspects of a person’s existence, and once that happens it’s generally assumed that if there’s a way for it to be fixed it has to be done by the affected person themself.
      
      This is why we can see the sun symbol burned into Phin’s back in some conditions but not others (and why she doesn’t have any scars on her arms from where she used to bite them as a kid).
      
      While we’re on the subject, this kind of explains why Phin and most commanders have such a particular relationship with physical scarring. Most can’t heal like Jo can but they do have a lot more control over their physical form than most folks, and since their body is the physical and spiritual tool they use for their craft it’s safe to assume they attach a lot of philosophical significance to anything that would seriously alter it. So if a commander has a big mean scar on them, like we saw on Gideon, they probably kept it like that on purpose.
