Sorry this took a minute, I have been, how you say, Deeply Unwell

BUT THINGS CONTINUE ANYWAY and so I will be at C2E2 next week if you’re in the Chicago area. I’m not tabling myself but you can find me helping out my friend Fend at the Fine OK booth or wandering around the floor with Lee. I won’t have anything for sale but I’ll sign stuff if you bring it to me, and I’ll be carrying some of the art cards and maybe a few other papery things you can have if you come up and introduce yourself!

I thought he was right there still

Toulouse:
ooohhkay,
it’s okay.

Junie:
What’re we gonna do?

Toulouse:
The adults will figure it out, don’t worry.

Ah yes, the adults will figure out what to do about their god kidnapping/eating a child. Considering Toulouse isn’t emoting and we can’t see his eyes, I’d bet on either “plan a funeral” or “blame and murder the godless.”

He seems like he’s got practice with this, reassuring people without promising anything. I wonder how many times it took before he stopped making that mistake.

Also, it looks like the vines are following her speech balloons, which makes me think that it’s either swallowing grief, spreading along it like grass through cracked pavement, or deliberately obscuring the sound. It’s a good effect specifically for the comic format.

Oh NO of all things I did not expect that. Tolouse I do not want to put any more burden on you, you have too much, but Jonesey better be rescuable. Please.

I’m curious to know whether Toulouse will go after the newcomers in a misplaced vendetta, or recognize them as his best chance at ending this curse once and for all.

Something tells me he’s sympathetic to the crew, but that one scene where this green vine motif had Ulrich doing something to Phin’s inner Star makes me think the power at play here has Toulouse kind of at their mercy.
