Any words are nice to hear! This one was a lot of extra work so it’s good to hear it struck some kind of nerve hehe

also relieved to hear somebody twigged the little aura she has going on over herself and the crew, it was MEANT to be subtle but i’ve been getting nervous nobody could tell lol

  I could not tell, so am glad to have it pointed out! So that’s why the vine is disintegrating off Phin’s hand? I wonder if she’s doing it consciously herself, or if it’s her star, or if commanders just cast a protective aura over Their People or what.

    For what it’s worth she does this pretty frequently, it just doesn’t usually have much bearing on reality as we’re seeing it so it’s not normally important to notice. One of the clearer instances was back here!
    
    On these pages I tried to indicate it by lighting the crew differently from the rest of the church! Everybody else is in green with blue shadows, but ours are lit in yellow with brown shadows (and Phineas, a light source, isn’t casting shadows on the furniture(until she’s lit in green in panel 8)). I have a lot of reasons for doing this comic in color, I rely on it for storytelling a lot hee

      *looks back through pages* Okay, I think I see it now, Phin is definitely subtly glowing, and she and those near her seem more warmly lit (seems like the lady who handed Ulrich the prayer book is at the edge of the aura?) Thank you for explaining! I’m not always the best at picking up visual cues and you are doing some complex nifty stuff here.

        Thanks! It’s all good, my pages tend to be pretty dense in the first place so I never expect people to pick up on everything, I try not to hide anything actually important in there either so folks should still be able to get the plot without trying to decipher secret art codes lol

  I am so glad you liked it! I love putting together crack theories like this. To be fair, there’s definitely evidence against it, like Ulrich’s silverspeak actually affecting a member of the congregation next to him, Phin saying the apparition of Stella was definitely real and not an illusion, and not even Brokenspectre realizing it’s all fake; if it’s an illusion, it’s highly sophisticated, realistic, and convincing. I still like the idea of it, though, and I’m certain there’s a grain of truth to it. At the very least, I’m confident that Toulouse is the source of the mass grief for one reason or another. I’m looking forward to how this actually turns out. 🙂
