He’s about to have battlefield surgery while fully awake, without even liquid strength to numb the pain. (Seriously, Phin, while you’re there, did you have a liquor cabinet? See if anything survived. I expect it’s gonna hurt.)

The day that actually qualifies as “nothing is wrong”, people will either be entirely too used to pain, or can’t feel it at all. And that still qualifies as something being wrong.

  I can say from personal experience that alcohol, blood loss, and head injuries do not mix well.

      Aw c’mon, at least let it be a Dove bar! [America really lost out culturally on chocolate. Not as tragic as the bread. But still a shame. Maybe for the best, we would just be fatter.]

        Yes. Anyone who wants a taste of something more like what you get in Europe should try those Lindt chocolate balls, that’s a pretty good representation. Of course in Belgium you get hand dipped with fresh cream inside but that’s harder to export.
        
        A really great thing if you can find them is Tony’s Chocolonely, by a Dutch guy that wanted slave-free chocolate and couldn’t find any so started making it himself. Really good stuff, google for a store near you.

        ugh a reader from germany sent me a box of candies a while back and the chocolate was just. a whole fucking Experience, i’d always HEARD our chocolate sucks but i didn’t realize how objectively terrible it is until i had something to compare it to ahaha. now i’m SPOILED

        XD we have a lot choco kinds Milka is the most famous for Kids since it has more Sugar in the mix so its technically less chocolate but even more of a guilty pleasure 😀 oh so is toffifee or kinderriegel
        In more nordic countries they have really good caramell chocolates tho i allways forget the name
        And finland has everything with liquorice

      I was thinking more Sour Patch Kids, Swedish Fish, or Starburst….maybe even some strawberry milk. Skim milk, mind, gotta be healthy.

    Maybe I just don’t have knowledge of the relevant fields, but that kinda sounds to me like “a little of anything and he’ll be out like a light”…..(and he can just panic about how bad that’ll be for his paranoia later…)
    
    ….that or “pour something on the wound to disinfect and he’ll be 100% awake and the surgery will be relatively painless”….which, come to think of it, given how much dirt probably got in there (it ain’t exactly sterile outside), wouldn’t be a bad idea anyway…

Yeah sure. Nothing wrong here. Just about to have some random stranger in the middle of a forest who can destroy parts of your starship by stepping on it perform a surgical removal of an impaling object while the subject is conscious and under no form of anaesthetic.

Yeah just go find him a new shirt Phin, it’s all fiiiiiine. 🙂

  Should make removing a bit of flesh easier as I’m sure the starship is strong/more sturdy…
