  Also (because I don’t want to hijack someone else’s thread) I read Aria’s responses to other comments and I need it on record that I ship Toulouse/Ulrich SO MUCH. It’s very cute and deadly!!!

    I’m SO HAPPY TO HEAR IT HH it’s still real early for you guys and I know it’s been the Robot GF Show for like five years (which I’m def not complaining about) but ulrich and toulouse kill me just as much and it’s absolutely destroying me having to keep my mouth shut about it lol
    
    just because i ship characters doesn’t necessarily mean anything for canon, so i wouldnt normally outright mention there’s Stuff going on there this early but i mean there was absolutely nothing straight about that scene in the shack the cat is out of the bag and running down the street as far as im concerned

Hi, been a while since I posted, so I feel bad about posting a suggested correction, but here I am :D. bookkeeper is a term that means something like “accountant”, not a synonym for librarian as it appears to be used here. e.g. wikipedia calls bookkeeping “the recording of financial transactions, and is part of the process of accounting in business”.

Please know that I’m only trying to be helpful and I have great respect for your talent in art, story telling, character development, etc. You are doing an awesome job.

This is true! I guess it’s giving the game away a little bit, but Toulouse being referred to as a “bookkeeper” by Ulrich here is finishing a call and response I set up between them on Page 32. Toulouse said “Keeping books is intense,” and in the shack a few pages later Ulrich said he is “books” (in the accounting sense) for the crew; then, Ulrich calling him a bookkeeper specifically was letting Toulouse know he remembered what he introduced himself as back in the woods. Basically, Ulrich is paying very close attention to what’s being said, choosing his words carefully, and trying to signal to Toulouse that he’s doing so to see how Toulouse responds.

It’s also. A very silly play on words, since Books can mean both finance stuff and book stuff and I’m losing my mind over all the dumb symbolism I can cram into the Toulouse/Ulrich subplot lmfao

THAT SAID: if the wording caught your attention enough to be weird but not enough to put the pieces together, I might change it to “keeper of books” or something less confusing on this page instead. It’s no fun if it’s not doing its job haha. I appreciate your feedback!

Edit: mm u know what i actually do like “book(s)” better anyway because then it’s plural in all three statements. Thanks again for pointing this out hee

  I feel a little bummed by the fact that you were trying to do something complex and my reaction convinced you to, excuse the expression, “dumb it down” for people like me :D–but I agree with you that your solution more clearly expresses it and also accomplishes the call back thing.
  
  Fine-tuning your subtlety such that it tickles the astute reader without distracting the more casual one is both an art and a constant struggle.

    no no!! It was a very fair criticism and it needed fixing, it’s not dumbing down if it was. inscrutable in the first place lmfaooo. Don’t ever worry about that sort of thing, I’ve been doing this long enough that I’m not gonna make any changes unless I genuinely feel like they ought to be made. Not to mention it’s fatally stubborn to write such obtuse meta into a goofy story like this to begin with, nobody’s ever going to change my mind there. I’m committed by this point y’all ought to know nobody’s ever getting spoonfed on my watch lol
    
    Y’all feel free to throw out whatever feedback you want! Don’t feel like you’re going to negatively influence the story or whatever, anything I take to heart is on me. I’m mostly just delighted folks care enough about it to engage with it this much <3

Not sure if the writing in the middle is supposed to be the “first prophet” or Toulouse, but either way, that looks less like normal diary entries and more like someone going insane…(I mean seriously their own written madness mantra ends up as scribbles and fragmented. Not a good sign any day of the week….)
