Oh… that’s not gonna go over well. Poor Toulouse is just being set up at every angle to get Phineas’ back up.

I don’t know about that. This is like, the second deity (?) I can think of that made this same kind of WITNESS ME speech – the first being Phin to the Starstone that Hazard jailed her with.
So maybe Phin’s getting either what she wanted, or what she knew was going to be the response to her declaration back then, or even the resistance / reckoning in general that’s to be expected from a bunch of deities to a would-be conqueror? Or maybe even some or all of that at once.
Plus, she was clearly expecting Azusa to have something to say to her, if she knew that much then I doubt she didn’t know what kind of message it would be beforehand.
Toulouse will definitely have a “fun” time navigating the turbid waters between Phin and Azusa though.
Aria
WITNESS ME speech is such a good way of putting it lmfao

Agatha looks like she’s watching an interesting ad on TV, Ulrich looks like he wants to use trees as earplugs, and if Phin looked any more on edge I’d expect her to be about to shoot punch the messenger.
Especially based on the number of months around the edges I’m guessing this is indeed something about their “changed patrons”, sounds like someone is a bit unhappy about…something? That also sounds like “be under my jurisdiction to be safe”, which sounds more like a threat than help. Though…”submit to my gaze”…is that really “follow me” or just an inspection to see if they’re a problem…? (Or related to a problem, or something…..)
“Seven stars astray”…Raven’s star called Phin/Brokenspectre “star astray”, so maybe the final crew ends up being seven? (Or maybe it’s completely unrelated…or coincidence….or any number of other things.)
Anyway, especially as the cast page now has someone’s card being made of wood and with some greenery on it, I’m presuming someone from the area is going to be joining up, and the librarian seems the obvious conclusion. (Arc starts with him chatting like they’ve known each other for a few, and the white streak in his hair….which he hasn’t had the rest of the time.) Then I realized the links on the side – seven of them…which, by what probably isn’t coincidence at all, the first three styles match up with the first three recruited members of the crew’s cast cards. Guessing it’ll help hint towards who will be joining…and in what order. (So if anyone was hoping for Eisse getting recruited, I’m guessing that would probably be near the end.)
Oh, and if the “all-star crew” thought has any weight to it…he’ll be…the star of the local denomination? Star of the books?
(PS: It’s the heist?)

I don’t think the Seven Stars Astray are the crew themselves for a couple reasons. First, Azusa says they’re sending them as a threat, and secondly, the cast page refers to Phin’s crew as The Seven Satellite System. I suspect if the stars astray have any relation to the crew or Phin, that it’s adversarial. One wonders though if Hazard and Monty were the first two, but personally I doubt it.

I’m wondering if the Seven Stars Astray refers to why the Derelict Eye was called ‘the second’ and Mana was called ‘the fifth’ (Derelict Eye also mentions that they and Mana used to be one being) … and yeah, I agree that it would be unusual for Aria to repeat a word choice without purpose (ie calling Phineas/Mana (not sure which) ‘Star Astray’)

Oh, huh, I forgot about that, thanks for reminding me. That does kinda cast this deific decree in a different light, hmm.
Demon
yeah.. THAT looks like it’s going well…
“How many times do I have to tell you .. DO NOT SASS GODS!!”
oh yep there’s that religious body horror alright yep yep yep

“Behold, the shattered titan falls into the sea, the bride feasts, twisting and green and ignorant the lost reach for light they will not find. I am returning, from my hand seven stars to shake you, from my mouth a shining sword to break you. I tell you: I come to collect what is mine. I tell you: submit to my gaze and be spared this judgement.
Obviously only going off of what we have seen before this point.
The only titan-like entity we know to be dead right now is Crow’s brother, but his death wasn’t shatter-y. Maybe Crow is going to die and Jocasta will absorb some/all of what remains?
The ignorant in the green which won’t find light would seem to be the village, who both want a solution but due to willful ignorance the light of knowledge won’t reach them. The god could also be thrownin shade at their own prophet, but that seems less likely.
Stars have a very specific context in setting, but we don’t know of any data sets with 7+ members. A part of me thinks it may refer to Phineas and crew, but that would make this prophecy relevant much further down the line which seems off as far as story pacing is concerned.
A sword from the mouth usually represents a powerful truth or knowledge, which is one of the few things that could outright threaten to destroy a commander. Alternatively it could be knowledge that causes a massive societal shift.
The ending seems to suggest that it believes something is owed to it, and a clear threat should that request be resisted, but I have no context for what that could be.
Honestly feeling split on this prophecy. It has clearly been delivered to Phineas yet much of it could instead apply to the village. Assuming it is for Phineas it still feels weird, particularly because prophesying at Phineas seems like an activity steeped in futility, she’s still gonna do what she wants. Oh well, fortunately she has reliable crew members.
Hopefully the prophet will be able and willing to offer some insight once this is over.
Aria
Watching people try to decipher the prophecy has been SO much fun I can’t stand how slowly I’ve been working lately ughh. I’m glad I split it up because the stretch between updates would have been even longer if I’d posted it all at once, but the analysis would have been a lot easier.
I appreciate y’all sticking around and staying interested even though things are slow right now, I already couldn’t wait to get this arc rolling but seeing how into it everybody’s been even this early is driving me crazy lmao

Someone really enjoyed their Book of Apokalypsis. =D

…All the Starstone in the world is found in clumps. Finding that one big block was an exception, not the rule.
…How many Full-Sized Starstones fell in the first place? Just seven? Banished from… somewhere.
A sun could make a good sword…
But why would a moth-deity be behind all that?
I’m thinking too big on this, I think.
God, that’s some beautiful imagery, though!
