You would think Agnes has the right to decide who pokes and prods at the injury, yes?
Departure_Dave
She does. She just doesn’t exercise that decision.
Myk Streja
I think she tried to, but like a child, she hasn’t learned how to stand up for herself. (BTW, the first part is me, the rest is Aria’s input.)
Aria
Yeah it’s basically like Dave said, she’s kinda still getting used to the fact that she’s ALLOWED to make decisions. It takes a while to learn to advocate for yourself without feeling like you’re just causing problems.
Myk Streja
Hmm, okay, I can see that. Doesn’t help my personal sense of outrage that she wasn’t even asked. I see Agnes does in fact start to protest. To quote: “O-Oh, right here?” Good enough for me. (You understand my angst’s not aimed at you, right, Aria?)
Aria
Yeah don’t worry!
Chromoid
Something else to remember: it’s pretty clear the people here either aren’t aware that machines can have souls, or are certain that it is impossible for them to have a soul in the first place. This has been the subject of many a sci-fi movie and book, with The Bicentennial Man perhaps displaying the conundrum of “what makes us human?” most clearly in recent times. Expecting a group of people who appear pretty locked-in to a certain, narrow mindset to suddenly accept a machine as a sentient being is stretching the bounds of credulity imo.
Glad that Agatha does seem to be learning that she can have boundaries though!
Myk Streja
Hmm, I hadn’t considered that POV. Perhaps ignorance, willful or not, can explain rude behaviors. That’s always been a historians greatest challenge: Don’t let current values color how other cultures may have acted. I believe I have failed that challenge, but I’m still on Agnes’ side in this.
Chromoid
I’m firmly on Agnes’ side as well. She deserves to be treated as a person, not an object, but unfortunately she’s landed in probably one of the worst possible places for that sort of affirmation. ^_^;
Also I would hardly say you’ve failed the challenge. If anything, you’ve succeeded in listening to other people’s perspectives and being willing to accept that there may be a more viable alternative to your current perception of things. That is a victory in my book!
Myk!
WAIT HI THIS IS TOTALLY UNRELATED TO THE TOPIC AND THIS COMMENT IS YEARS OLD BUT YOU AND ME SHARE A NAME!!! my name’s Myk too!!! is your name pronounced Mick or Mike cause mine’s Mick but people guess Mike all the time.lmao
I’ve never met somebody who shared my name with the same exact spelling so i’m excited!!
Mike South

Aria

Francis, the silent and dour.

That expression on Agatha feels very… real and powerful. I hope she’ll be okay.
It’s interesting watching Phineas. It does not look like she’s having an easy time (in general, but with Toulouse?). Not to say I expected her to have an easy time here, but it feels like somehow things are worse than previous (beyond the obvious).
Aria
It’s okay Agatha brought friends this time hee
Noon being gone puts Phin on edge :<

I will KINDLY kick some arse. On someone else’s behalf, of course. 😉

Life is pain. Dying is slow. A quick death…could be a kindness.
All depends on who the judge is on your interpretations.
Also, I bet Agatha is feeling a bit embarrassed with someone suddenly uhh, hmm…”looking at her parts”?
everentropy
…And when is killing someone doing them a kindness?
