EDIT 5/2: hi everything else is fine but i’ve been getting locked out of the site because of some weird database shit and the only way to fix it was to explode the site temporarily. i’m not sure if it’s permanently better, so if you come back and everything’s gone to shit i’m aware and working on it. i THINK everything’s back in order but if something’s busted let me know

Okay.. She fumbled the preamble, but just ran into the endzone. Time for extra points!

One thing I love about Phin is that she’s terrible at social norms, but has inhuman intuition and empathy. So the end result is when she tries to help someone, she comes across as this awkward goofball in the beginning, but when she gets to the meat of the conversation she’s the most sincere and intelligent person you’ve ever met to a degree that is kinda scary.

It’s a great little character subversion that I’ve appreciated time and again in this comic.

  One of the things I was never satisfied with in the shounen stuff that inspired kc was that people like to give characters Obsessions, like the “nobody touches my friends >:(” rage buttons, but we never really explore how that affects the rest of the personality. Phineas is a dumbass for sure, but living with that kind of intensity all the time would basically force you to gain some measure of emotional literacy. If somebody gets mad enough to go on a bloody rampage to save another person they must have a pretty frightening capacity for love and adamancy, and as cool as it is to see the action hero elements of that whole thing I always want to make time to get into both.

    I both appreciate it and think it’s heccin cool! It goes up there along with the way you subtly alter the art to portray different character’s points of views in terms of small but powerful tools that animate this comic in such a vibrant way.
    
    Basically you love to show before you tell, and it’s so well done.
