You know, saying that sort of thing doesn’t seem the best idea… Why do people always do that? -_-

Can’t stand it indeed 😀
We all knew Monty was bad, but now….
I’m thinking maybe this erase won’t quite go as planned though, he can erase the machine’s memory, but the starstone’s probably not so easy.
Charidan
Plausibly speaking, he might actually be trying to help. Given that Monty is not a starstone, the nature of Agatha’s being may be beyond his capacity to help in any other way. If she really is dependent on being inside the city for power then he can’t send her elsewhere, and the last time she was left unchecked she went on a rampage and killed her creator. Short of destroying her (if he even can?) this is quite possibly the kindest option that hurts the minimum number of people.
Cassandra Lankford
As rude as he sounds that honestly is what I think is happening here. Assuming Monty inherited Agatha and being unable to destroy her, he is doing his best to keep her sane. He might be cruel to her over the murder because its very obvious Agatha is actually a person and not a defunct machine. The knowledge of her nature drives her to fury and she probably killed someone close to him. So he just cant get over it and thus doesnt worry about hurting her as long as she is contained. Or possibly kindness lead for her pushing to her release prior and it led to a whole other rampage scenario.
I know we’ve seen a lot of hints and evidence to suggest that he is a villian. But honestly I’ll be a little disappointed if he turns out to be that cut and dry. I suspect he only made her software if that, I imagine him being wholly ignorant or vastly misinformed on what a starstone was prior to dealing with Agatha. I can easily imagine him simply thinking it was a good power source that his partner suggested they use. Only to partially figure it out later, exactly what it truly was.
Or him just being overwhelmed as her keeper, all the sass being a shield to cover how overwhelming it is to maintain something that could easily destroy many more lives. It’s super unlikely but my silly fancanon is just that he is a really tired scientist who has long since got tired of this song and dance. But for whatever reason he has to keep it up. Unlikely I know, given there are many indications that he is just a trash person. But I can dream.

I love hearing peoples’ theories! It’s always real cool hearing that people have bothered to put that much care into the characters heee. Thanks for your thoughtful comment~

Thank you for your wonderful comic, its one of the few I check on daily! That said it shouldn’t be a surprise that people put so much thought and attention your characters. Despite my hemming and hawing otherwise, even if Monty turns out to be a cut and dry villian. You’ve set him up very naturally and written him very well. The subtle looks in the panels, the foreboding dialogue from both him and other characters. Regardless of what he turns out to be, he is very much a fully portrayed like a real person from my perspective.

ah man that really means a lot <3

We are all heroes in our own minds. The truly dangerous are the ones who accept villainy.

Except, Phin’s going to show up, go “Yo, what the fuck?”, Ulrich’s likely going to be about as unamused as physically possible, and Noon might be offended that you undid that work on trying to help.
You say this as if it’s a script you’ve done many times over a very long period of time. I think I’m going back to a previous thought: “android murder their maker” probably is related to you at least one of your two in some way.

You know, I thought there was a chance Monty might come out of this in one piece.
