(I realize there’s some glittering around Ulrich’s eyes so there’s more to it than just that, but I like the idea of Ulrich getting some kind of headache (or just being that annoyed) from Monty suggesting they’re the same.)

  He’s just dismissing the extra lens on his glasses, but the continuity with the lens is already pretty rough because it’s new so it DOES just look like a goofy extra thing rn haha. It’s on the list of stuff to fix when we go to print after the arc’s over. Getting a headache from sheer annoyance is very in-character tho

    It’s a thematic thing. Everything is better because everyone knows their role, and doesn’t try to step outside it.
    
    But of course people try anyway, and Monty knows that. Otherwise he wouldn’t have needed to make a deal with Myla’s mom.

I feel like Ulrich understands Monty’s point very well. Uncomfortably well.

I also feel that Ulrich has heard and perhaps even lived in that worldview before. And he’s beyond sick of it now. In fact I’m sure of it, or else he wouldn’t be traveling with someone so outside of conformity as Phineas.

Bottom line: someone getting shot reallllll soon.

I think it could be a utopia if it had no controller and no secrets. Something that people don’t think about is how being controlled is the default state of human minds, what we might call free will is something that only happens in the balance points between outside forces, if we want to truly perceve the world and ourselves with less bias a system not unlike this would be nessesary, to be rational rather than rationalize.
