the way this arc actually addresses the continued presence/”redemption” (acceptance by the wider community, former friends in common etc) of an abuser in the life of someone they abused, the lack of closure that comes with that and the residual anger, is SO real and I feel like it’s not something I see dealt with often in this kind of story. Agatha finally getting to punch Monty in the face, but Monty(2.0) getting to be all civil about it while she is left with the lifelong damage… HOO BOY. It’s so real.

It’s a topic near and dear 2 my heart as I’m sure you’re aware from my posts elsewhere lmao. I’M REALLY GLAD TO HEAR IT’S COMING ACROSS WELL I haven’t seen it done too often in shounen either, like, it always bothers me when characters are just Fixed when their bad guy gets beat up or whatever? I do LIKE seeing satisfying beatdowns but. Idk, even if the offending party decides they’re Real Sorry (which sets up all these other social issues you mentioned) or even if they straight up die over it, the victim still has to deal with more than they ever did. The fallout doesn’t magically go away for them, and at the end of the day the offender still GOT TO DO whatever the thing was. Abusers going on to find Redemption uwu or just the simple fact that whatever they did to you literally cannot be as big of a deal in their life as it is to yours is A Lot lmao.

It’s a thing I’ve had trouble explaining to people in my real life and a lot of times they find the anger Ugly, which I can certainly understand, so I wasn’t sure if it would be seen as a sympathetic thing in the comic or if people would even understand it. It’s been really really nice hearing from other folks who felt Seen hehe. thanks for ur thoughtful comment friend <33

  The anger is necessary. How else are you going to excavate that mess without some powerful emotions to drive the engines? And it *has* to come out, or it begins to eat you alive from the inside-out. It’s a concept many people don’t grasp and never will, but one that a lot of actual victims know on a personal level. And they also need to know that it is *okay* to feel like that. It’s how you *use* those feelings that matters.

    Yeah! Most of the time, if they were allowed to be angry (or respond with the appropriate gravity) to whatever caused it in the first place it wouldn’t have gotten so bad. Human emotions come with their own pressure valves and we’ve done a great job shutting them off then wondering why we don’t work right pff

Holy shit wait I looked up again to see the statue thing next to Noon and that’s not Myla’s at all is it? It’s got more teeth than people, some of which are almost the size of people, and what even is that thing? Those teeth can’t even exist all the time, that mouth wouldn’t even close. Forget them going through the body, they’d run into each other…. (Assuming it’s part of Noon’s….”intrusion discouragement system”….which….works. I think. o_O Noon was clearly not trying to keep Phin out at all, previously, if that’s part of the capabilities….)
