I love the description of Phin’s fighting style/her bearing. Interesting.

I really like when I get the chance to put in like, overt tactile details for characterization. Weird subtle stuff like idle movements or habits or certain impressions some characters have on others. In prose I can just use adjectives, but that stuff’s harder to get across in comics hehe. I’m glad someone else appreciates it!
Pages like this one are among the reasons why I love this comic. Characters. Deep. Polished dialogue. And “subtle stuff” so moving because it’s so true to life. You’ve outgrown your influences since the first page of this comic.
Charidan
I believe the phrase is “Now we goin’ places!” 😀
Aria
Hopefully!

Ahh jeez thanks dude. Incidentally, I saw the unedited version of this and it really stuck with me haha. I totally get what you’re saying and that’s really high praise to me, means a whole lot <3
Reading famous comics and deciding you can’t compare them to KC because they’re really good at what they’re doing, but what they’re doing is so different, and definitely not what I’m looking for, helped a lot define what I love so much here. I think I’ve read so many books and so many comics in my life, I became really demanding…
Nono, his name is definitely Arty now. I am the nickname arbiter and I have spoken.
Sandman366
What, not Art?
Possibly as in “work of”? (Well, when actually bothering to keep the place swept, cobweb free, and shit.)

I can’t get over how you can always find the fine line between “not enough information” and “information gave the chapter away” in this comic, Aria. Just when I start to feel like I’m losing my grasp on what’s going on in the current chapter, you throw me just enough explanation/hints to make sense of half of what I see.
That takes some real writing talent, imo.
Aria
That’s really good to hear! I know KC can get pretty convoluted with so many seemingly unrelated concepts getting mashed together so fast, I try real hard to find a balance between giving enough info to keep folks from getting lost (and frustrated) and just dropping too much all at once.
It’s always hard to tell if whatever I’m doing is working, I appreciate you taking the time to say something thoughtful!
also very kind of you to say that about my writing, I’m definitely doing my best hehe

Can Commanders also be “Walkers”?
Because that sounds like one hell of a badass in the making. (Especially since you’ve already got ultra-badasses as the teachers and…adoptive family, sort’ve. Makes her, what, an uber-badass? I mean she’ll basically offer to kick the ass of the possibly-effectively-infinitely-old-thing when annoyed with it, this makes it sound like the ship thinks she can back that up.)
Aria
The abilities can coexist with no problem, but Walkers are usually born and commanding is usually an acquired skill!
Sandman366
“Usually”.
Somehow I doubt Commanders are usually taught by both a Walker and a Commander.
Somehow I doubt anyone is usually trained by such legends apparent.
Somehow, I doubt usually is used to describe Phineus all that often.
Aria
hehe

Yep, my new favorite character is definitely the ship now. Sorry, Ulrich.
