WOW theres a whole lot of info here! I’m pretty sure Ulrich has been lying to Phineas this whole time about what he knows regarding spirtual stuff. Not 100% sure yet.
I wasn’t sure until now but tuxedo lady is definitely Ulrichs mistress. he mentioned she’s a florist earlier, The dirt on the feet (from gardening) and the barrage of flowers are inline with that theme. But why name your delegates after chess pieces? it means you can have like, 16 people maximum before the metaphor breaks down. And it would kinda suck being delegated the pawn.
So if Ulrich is the knight, Eisse is the rook, Phineas is the queen, and Ulrichs boss is the King, that leaves the bishop(s) and pawn(s). I assumed the reason Ulrich came to last chance was to get the crystal flower ring, but Essie mentioned it was an aesthetic. It might have somesort of special effect or sentimental value. But what if he came here for a Commander?
Remember, before Phineas told him, Ulrich though Hazard was a Commander, giving him reason to travel to last chance. The Tain is my main reference here, but I don’t think it would of praised him if he was just following orders, he’s playing chess and “she’s your queen” Ulrich or his organisation need a commander for something. All I can think of is getting revenge on whoever killed his spirt, but getting a commander is kinda overkill when they can level the universe. It’s almost definitely something a lot more interesting than a simple revenge story, can’t wait for tomorrows page!

Ulrich’s made some major shifts before. Like when Phin asked if she could meditate, he looked almost like he thought she might be mocking him. Among other instances of him looking like he’s about to do one thing and then just skips shifting into another gear gets into another vehicle.

So right now? I expect this to be a coin toss. Heads, he’s going to actually give her offer some thought. Tails, he goes “…do you think that would really have any chance at working!?”

As for how I expect the next page to be…..
This is Ulrich. If Luck is a Lady, then the two of them flirt with each other, then pair up to work over everyone and everything else, then split ways….daily. I expect that coin to land on it’s side, and for the damned thing to have writing there, too!

(Wait, sorry, that’s the next page of this conversation. The next page is probably shifting back to Phin or something just to really screw with us, and next we see of them is 50/50 on this conversation or not hearing of this conversation again for a while.)
