Could it be Maggie? Jo said he must be dead but, well, we didn’t see him die, did we.
Oscar Crooks
This was legit my first through as well but “Maggie ain’t a fighter”, the grey dude touches his tooth when Broken-specter explodes, which we can assume is related to his/hers/whatever symbolism. Gideon touches his eye which is important to him cause it’s his symbol both metaphorically and literally his mark is a eye. Jocasta touches her chest/lungs, this goes waaaaaaaaaay back to the very first couple of pages of the comic but the monologue about roosters screaming would relate to breath, hence lung symbolism. (this comic i swear)
So Grey touching his tooth (specifically his canine) probably has some symbolism to his character, a canine is used to rip apart meat, likely not a trait exhibited by Maggie “woulda come home running”

If you look in his mouth (the grey figure’s), it looks exactly like the empty space in Hazard’s face. I think we can safely assume that this is where he keeps his (link to his) star.
Give what back? His star? Are all their stars linked somehow? Pieces of a single star? Will he die without it? (Even Hazard I like and don’t want for him to die…)
Well, as usual: you give us a (big) piece of information and raise ten new questions, huh.
Aria
I gotta give y’all SOMETHING to do
Wereael
Aria please, too many somethings

Aria, the theorists who come up with shit like “Tyler Durden is the Joker” (and have good explanations to back it up), we aren’t.
Besides, trying to figure out that far in advance will disappoint me when it doesn’t happen, and be less fun if I was right. It’s so nice though to just ride along the sea of “whaaa”. (Well, trying to figure out what’s happening now (and during the last several pages from whenever “now” is) is okay, but actually figuring out the future pages is more bleh. Weirdly.)
Aria
I dunno, I’ve seen a few folks come up with some fantastic theories already! But both kinds of readers are equally appreciated~
Sandman366
Okay, a genius like that, I’m not.
They’re crazy and I don’t even understand how/why they’d come up with stuff like that. (Like the previous, or Fight Club is just an older Calvin & Hobbs. Or that Jessie’s owner from Toy Story 2 is actually Andy’s mom (his cowboy hat matches Jessie’s instead of Woody’s, and his mom’s name is never given). Or that Gilligan’s Island is actually Hell, and Gilligan is the devil. Or the really crazy one where the entire universe is just a figment of Han Solo’s imagination since he was never actually released from that carbonite. Why do so few people like the prequels? Because Solo was bad at history. Why does RotJ go so well for everyone (especially him)? Wishful thinking. Oh, and the Indiana Jones movies are “evidence” “supporting” it with Star Wars details sprinkled throughout to help remind himself of where he really came from and his current situation.)
There’s Willing Suspension of Disbelief, and then there’s people who just put the most unrelated details possible together, come up with a completely implausible story as to why that works, and find anything that might support that theory. (It’s just scary how well some of them work.)
(And the best part of this is how Disqus has an issue and forgets I was logged in, but trying to log in gives another “Whoops!” page, with Han Solo on it. Though I gotta say, this “some people come up with crazy theories” post got a little out of hand….par for the course, really…)
Wereael
I view theory-crafting as an exercise in futility, though it can be enjoyable.
Aria
As an author, sincere comments of any kind are extremely good for my morale while I’m dumping so much of my time and energy into a project, and theories that readers put together signify that someone out there is reading actively and looking for all the foreshadowing and meta storytelling I like to work in. Not everyone cares to do it and that’s totally fine! But I personally very much enjoy reading em.
Aria
(whether or not they’re totally off-base or uncomfortably accurate haha)
I mean like 90% of the time in KC it seems to be a fair guess tbh
Watto
ayyyyy its some of the old crew, I’m guessing. Awesome page! Especially like how Phineas is glitching out in the top corner 😀
Aria
eee thank ya! For as messy and abstract as that sort of thing looks it’s really difficult to get it to the right kind of messy and abstract, I’m glad you like it hehe
JO? JO ARE YOU OKAY SPEAK TO ME *makes desperate, pathetic chicken noises that are probably hella offensive in KC-verse*
Sandman366
A rumble so intense it doesn’t even get vowels. Some powerful rumbling there.
As evidenced by Jo coughing pink from it, someone we haven’t been told who it is (for some reason I was to ask if that’s Dusk) itching his teeth (I’m sure I’m wrong on what he’s doing here but that’s hilarious to me for some reason), and even Gideon noticing whatever it was that Raven just did.
(I think the funniest thing today is the “ALSO ON KIDD COMMANDER” at the bottom of the page has, for one of the four recommendeds to read, the page “dang”, which no longer exists. (Specifically it actually has me saying it’s home. Hehe…))
Wereael
The pink stuff Jo is coughing is the smoke from her (cigarettes?) that she smokes.
Also, I’m not so sure that it’s something /Raven/ did, in this case. Phin’s star seems to be trying to tear the star out of Raven’s face (at least, that is my interpretation of this event).
I’m unsure why exactly everyone else noticed/reacted to this, but they all seem to be people who have a star (link to a star? this is unclear). Whether it’s just innate to all star bearers, or these people are all linked to the same star.
(The page “dang” was one of the temporary pages for batch updates. They’re there to make sure people read the pages in the correct order. Aria deletes these once a new update happens after the batch update. Most of the people in the comments (me included) crack jokes about the temporariness of it, and other things.)
Sandman366
Except it’s Raven’s hand on Phin’s (err, Brokenspectre’s?) face, since the angle’s staying the same and she’s the one already rather…..stretchy-headed. (Whatever you call that. I maintain that that cannot be comfortable.)
Two of the three shown are known to be linked to that particular star, so it’s possible, but if that is the common thread which they feel it, means she’s met Itchy Tooth before. I’d say maybe it’s a range-based thing instead, but seems strange that those two would be 2/3 of the ones within range. Then again, only three were shown, so maybe it’s just because they’re plot-important. (Or maybe there’s a required sensitivity to this kind of thing that only they have, or something else we don’t know about.)
(I know “dang” was a temp page. I recognized the comment from the wording, it was the second temp page. You can still add to that page’s discussion if you want, just, obviously, not on the KC site, since the page doesn’t exist there anymore, technically. I just thought it funny that the nonexistent page was leaking through.)
*Wondering how the background looks like without all those panels hiding it*
Oscar Crooks
I’ve got this neat theory on the back-burner but it’s just missing that one solid link that ties everything together, which hopefully is going to be revealed next page. Till then I thought it was neat that Crow wears an eye of Horus as an eye patch, a symbol of protection and royal power from deities. And that Crow shares some similarity with Horus, particularly his role as sky god.
Aria
I adjusted it a tiny bit but it’s super cool the horus connection still comes through heeeee
smurfton
Hmm. so then dusk is a member of gideon's crew?
smurfton
Or the connection is having a piece of the sun inside
smurfton
Orrr Dusk is surprised to see Rook in front of him suddenly. That one seems less likely with the mouth touch though
