Well, the Tain seem to think that the scam is his “life”. Not saying I buy into that, but Ulrich’d sell it if he felt it’d boost his chances.

Besides, Phin seems to know he’s not exactly being up front with her, and if she minds, doesn’t show it. (On the one hand I’d say she doesn’t really have a poker face so clearly shes doesn’t mind, but on the other hand, she’s so good at distracting the topic that whether or not she minds how shady he is could get danced around for days without getting answered.)

Personally, I think it would’ve been cooler if Ulrich played this off….well, cooler, rather than the threat reversal approach. More nonchalant rather than “Hurry up with your threat there before Phin comes back and tries calling your bluff”. But eh, I’m not him. (It’d be an achievement if I were as cool as his dice, or maybe his hat or glasses…..let alone him. But being him also does sound kinda rough, so….I’d probably take a pass on that…)

By the way, Ellie, best part about your argument in panel 2? He tried telling Phin that and she ignored him. Kinda wondering what would happen if Ellie tried telling Phin, now…

    I’d ask when the last time any of them got sleep was…got this is still the same day as the fire, isn’t it? So Ellie’s probably rested well enough, it’s just Phin and Ulrich who might’ve gone a bit too long without a proper break.
