sorry this page took so long to get to you! I’ve been dealing with food poisoning since Wednesday and I’ve been pretty useless for the past several days. I’m going out of town on Monday but the next page is really simple, so I’m gonna try reeeal hard to get it to you by tomorrow hopefully!

Hmm. Lung cancer? Films from the department of radiology, Albuterol is an anti-inflammatory of the lungs, used in treating diseases. Oxycodones and acetaminophens are used together when treating moderate-severe pain. Those films could be for other diseases though, so all we really know is that Ulrich had a pretty major lung problem, involving pain and inflammation.

    I was on phone when I first read the page, where I can zoom super easily. Without zooming, not so much, since they’re both cut off at the bottom.
    
    Also: that is a very clever use of the flowers, the left (lily?) white flower blocks the presription date, of a paper that looks a lot newer than the one above it. The pink flower also blocks someone’s name, that is not Ulrich

      They’re carnations! Hard to tell since they’re all dry and crumbly. Ulrich is also holding one in his horrifically outdated background image on the extras page

  The break is probably gonna hurt me more than you guys, I tend to go into comic withdrawls after about four days lkasjdf. This will be the longest break I’ve taken since starting the comic I think! I’m still planning, I’m thinking I’m gonna post the next page, do my out of town thing, then post like a placeholder with dates and information and stuff. Y’all will know as soon as I do 🙂

Man Ulrich’s mask was so cool, I’m assuming (since the mask is summoned with magic) that it might take on the form roughly of his psyche, and ever since he got his soul crushed, it takes on a less flamboyant appearance.

Flower symbolism:, I’m pretty sure that’s a Lily (red) and some white Carnations (Thank you Wereael and Aria for talking about flowers and saving me hours researching what these flowers are). Red lilies can symbolize Passion, love and High-souled aspirations. while White carnations suggest pure love and good luck. I’m pretty sure that these flowers represent Ulrich and Bel respectively, rather than both flowers being for Ulrich.

On the left form Ulrich has a listed “Home Radio” which is kinda weird but I guess the phone craze hadn’t hit yet OR I was just put off by Dusks smartphone and the equivalent of a phone is still the star-stone radio, and smartphones are a new addition.

Ulrich is from Roulette city, which is the name of a thriller film by Thomas Lim, set in Macau (a region in china with the nickname “the Las Vegas of China”). Additionally their flag has a lotus on it. I don’t know how much of the KC world resembles Earth, seeing as Ulrich speaks German but I’m assuming that Roulette City is the KC parallel to Macau.

    OH! Man it’s embarrassing I missed that, i just assumed that Bel and Ulrich were around the same age, ’cause of the photo of them as kids. Since the first name doesn’t begin with a B, maybe that’s Bels parent?

  Conveniently ignoring the rest of this comment to explain the most boring part: More primitive radios like Phin’s compass or Jo’s radio evolved into what we consider regular phones over time, but they kept the name because they still essentially work the same way! Dusk’s phone, and most all the tech in kc that uses (electricity analog), is still starstone based. It’s just laid out on a nice neat circuit board when it’s inside a smartphone instead of crammed into a homemade container.

Food poisoning may be a weirdly appropriate thing to happen after drawing these last pages. Not that you deserve it, just…well, I’m sure raw demi-buns aren’t good for the digestion.
Some interesting facts about Ulrich here, interesting to note that Dusk doesn’t seem to mind Phin taking him along, despite him not being meant to be there, and that Ulrich was being watched, presumably for some other reason?
