Bravo Agatha, that’s a good one! You managed to faze your multi-millennia old (I think?), multi-dimensional sibling, by innocently rattling her preconceptions.
This bodes well, it does.
Aria
Yeah! We the audience know Noon’s being kind of a dick here but they’ve been living with a very different version of the tain for a long time, tain aren’t usually in the habit of making conversation or trying to form their own identity (if a normal strain wanted a name they wouldn’t ask for it hehe).
Agatha has no such prejudice, and as lonely as she was probably feels a lot of kinship with Vane now that they can interact. Also, if the kind of stuff Vane was saying during the fight in the last arc is any indication, Vane is probably pretty affectionate.
Nandan
Well, Noon may look like they’re being “kind of a dick”, but I’d say they’re just rattled, and not knowing just right this instant how to respond to Agatha without being… eh… more of a dick.
Amusingly, this reaction feels to me oh so very human.
I mean, is not not so human, this habit of forming an opinion, whether through hearsay or direct experience, and then associating one’s identity with this opinion, thus fixing it into belief such that when this belief is challenged, one feels as if one’s own identity (or existence) is challenged… making for often unpleasant and sometimes overly strong reactions?
I daresay I would expect gods to be less prone to self-attachment to concepts, ideas and judgments, and therefore less easy to rattle via belief-questioning. Oh well, I guess it all depends on one’s definition of ‘god’.
In any case, if our dear Lucky Noon prefers to withdraw than react more unpleasantly, it is Lucky for Agatha, is it not…?
Aria
Hee! Well the big old starstone down in the mines under last chance DID say they all generally think Noon’s lost their mind because they’ve become too human, all that would track pretty well.
Nandan
Sure.
But then, that big old star-stone down in the mines was certainly very attached to the concept of their superiority over that spec of flesh coming to visit them. Well, over any and all fleshy specs, for that matter. And they did not enjoy or react agreeably when our dear and daring commander put this concept in question. So, with regard to conceptual attachments, they sure ain’t any more godly than Noon, are they?
But, uh… don’t go and tell ’em I said that. Please. I am kinda attached to my own skin, and to keeping me soul and body… attached together. Yes. An attachment I’m sure they wouldn’t mind challenging in return.
Chromoid
I love Agatha’s innocence towards the world. It may come back to bite her in some areas, but it can also open her eyes to possibilities that others have never even considered.
Aria
Agatha’s been so totally sheltered she’s got that whole alien “lots of Book Knowledge, not a lot of Experience” thing going on right now, which is a trope that usually gets abused in science fiction in regard to lady characters so I’m glad you’re enjoying it!
Demon
I just wonder which the 8 bit videogame sound is appropriate?
Sandman366
Clearly this little piece of Tain is (at least for now) different from the rest.
…..I wonder if that’s something to do with the part where it appeared to sympathize with Agatha? Wanting to get along because the light that casted the shadow it’s made of was so….broken?
Aria
If Agatha is cut off from her sibling network, it stands to reason Vane is too
Firebee
Dont you just hate it when your call disconnects right in the middle

Have we been given an explanation for what the Lil'(/big) Sphinx/Cat/Owl is? I remember it showed up around the same time that BlankMonty swung around to get closure, but at the time I assumed it was like an transformed version of the externalized ship. Now that it’s hanging around in the ship and showing the same style of mineralized texture as Noon, it seems it’s likely closer in essence to whatever personality-projection Noon’s humanoid form is. It’s not very clear, but I’m presuming it vanished at the same time as Hair-Phineas-Noon (who looks fantastic in panel 3 btw) did.
Aria
The marble monster is part of Agatha’s Noon, they’re a set! gee how come mom lets you have TWO physical manifestations
I didn’t think about it but you’re right it’s pretty much been here nonstop since it appeared. Noon’s just been projecting Agatha a lot I guess! It’s not a new permanent fixture or anything, it’s just one of the bigger details I use to denote “Noon is somehow Agatha Flavored rn”, like the Ulrich flowers/tattoos or Phin hoodie/leg warmer things
Elkian
Did Noon run off to try and chat with their own Tain?
