It’s been an eventful couple weeks! Things are calmer now, thanks as always for your patience.

I LOVE Toulouse!!!! Also the suspicious jerk inside of me has to suppress the knee-jerk reaction to that line of argument that is just “WHAT DO YOU THINK MEDICINE IS!?!?!”

  Unfortunately there were plenty of people in my churches growing up who held that exact view about modern medicine hh. As religiously weird as this arc is gonna get, the real life stuff I’ve based it on was much weirder lmao

    This is probably neither asked for, nor wanted, but as a religious person I have actually struggled with that problem in the past. After a lot of searching through the texts and asking a LOT of questions, I’ve come to the conclusion that God gave us medicine as a way to soothe our aches. Just because we’re afflicted does not mean we cannot find ways to cure and heal. Healing is, after all, part of God’s nature. Jesus even called himself “the Great Physician.”
    
    Not trying to convert anyone, just thought I’d give a view from inside the proverbial rabbit hole. You’re hardly the first to encounter that question. ^_^

      For the record! If I wasn’t open to dialogue about all this I wouldn’t be writing about it so extensively, and probably would have comments turned off to boot hehe. Given that people on the internet are often terrible I can’t guarantee that I’ll give the time of day to EVERY response, but if someone’s making a point in good faith I’m usually delighted to discuss whatever the comic compelled them to bring up, including religious feelings. KC is full-stop a vehicle for me to process my (mostly religious) trauma so my opinions are strong, but my intention is always to try and help others who might be in similar places or carry similar things, not to tear down readers who have their own faith or push some atheism propaganda bullshit. I know there are plenty of longtime readers who are believers and I hope y’all believe me when I say I’m never writing this comic as an excuse to hold up mean caricatures and hit them. I’m an angry person and I’ve said some pretty strong stuff about religion in more casual spaces before, but I try very hard to make my work considerate and hopefully more thoughtful than one long vent post.
      
      That is to say: It means a lot to me that anyone has thoughts about my comic, and as long as we’re all civil please feel free to offer them even if they’re in direct opposition to whatever I just said on the page lmao

        I’ve read your angry stuff as well as your kind stuff and believe me, none of it offends. Sometimes it saddens me, but I totally get where it’s coming from as I’ve also borne witness to similar influences (albeit not in a direct fashion).
