I love the faces in the second last panel, just Phin so angry and done with this shit while the other two are just so concerned and freaked out is amazing XD
Aria
them city slickers ain’t never been to REAL church before
Nandan
– Are you washed in the blood?
– Yeah no thanks bye…
Lovely smile, in the last panel. Lots of god’s love to share around… yes.
Creepy crawly god, with creepy crawly love.
Also, I’m guessing this spidery mood should be rather unsettling for the moth kin in attendance.
Aria
I gotta say everybody being so unsettled by the “washed in the blood” thing has been very cathartic after hearing it every ten minutes growing up lmao
Allen Charest
I forgot that these lines are taken from active churches for a minute instead of you making up the murder-cultiest sentences you can think of, thank you for the DEEPLY DISTURBING reminder, I hate it.
Aria
I really didn’t need to write anything lmfao almost every Bad Thing in this arc comes straight from real life. Annnnnd tbh just because of how i’ve constructed kc’s world it’s all much gentler than it is in ours h a h a
Nandan
Man, you’ve had a life…
Aria
Cults! they’ll ail ya
Demon
Ohhhh nervermind the spiiiidersss… HERE! follow along and SING!!

The surreal horror only increases with the strange tinge of laundry commercial. Washed in the blood? See Azusa for the cleansing power!
I love the children’s hands, this kind of details really makes the difference
Aria
It’s been difficult to know what to actually show of them during the sermon. we really don’t have time to cut to Crying Children every three panels, especially since we know they’re upset already, so I sort of figured just reminding everybody they’re here trying to take care of each other /during/ all this other stuff gets the point across. hopefully, hehe.
Chromoid
I find an interesting contrast between this scene and the real world. In the real world, people outside religions are frequently upset about about them because gods don’t show up. Here, however, the people outside the religion are getting increasingly upset because the religion’s god literally does shows up.
No deep meaning being derived here. I just think that’s an interesting dichotomy.
Aria
KC as an anti-religious story definitely has the potential to get kneecapped by the fact that “gods” DO exist in some capacity and sometimes seem to respond to humankinds, just that surety would completely change religion as a concept in the real world so it’s something I’ve thought about a lot in the context of the story haha. At least from my perspective, the question (and the reason I feel compelled to write these things) wasn’t ever whether god exists or not, but whether it’s worth trading your life for.
ColorfulTriangle
Finally I have caught up with this comic after reading it casually for half a year now and wow! I am in love with this cast and setting you have created!
The first arc was good, but the second one was really what got me hook.
And now with this arc? Hoo-boy. I am excited to see where everything heads!
Aria
Oh wow thanks so much for sticking around!! I’m so glad it’s a fun time, I’ll do my best to keep things interesting haha

Instead of viney tattoos, Toulouse now has glass cracks/spiderwebs…
everentropy
Ooh, the website background changed to spiderwebs… I always love/hate when that happens. Does not seem like a good sign here…
