Smallish heads-up: My ancient cintiq finally deteriorated to the point it’s interfering with my work; I can muddle through until the replacement gets here, but if the colors seem strange hang in there, I’ll try and fix everything when I can see properly again lmao. Right now I’m trying to get by previewing the pages on my phone screen, which is Also Old, but I don’t wanna stop production for two weeks waiting on the new equipment so we’re all just gonna be cool about it for a minute.
I haven’t wanted to mention any of it because I was pretty sure it would level out at some point, but this latest Random Big Expense is the latest in random fucking expenses we’ve been getting hit with since late last year, and on top of the last convention having low attendance and our next one not being until August summer’s getting a bit tight. To be very clear: we are okay overall! We are not Panicking yet! So many of y’all are already doing SO much to financially support this thing even while the world is burning, and I don’t want it to feel like I’m shaking y’all down again right after everybody showed up to help get books reprinted, but I also don’t like keeping everyone in the dark wrt the Continued Health of the comic? So while obviously it would help, instead of going “please throw more money into the ko-fi” I’m gonna try asking that folks maybe consider helping get the word out about KC a lil more over the next couple months. Make some fanwork and share it, or engage with others’! Do some meta posts on tumblr! Recommend it to a friend! Once folks get on board y’all tend to be overwhelmingly supportive, but we really struggle to bring in new people and I always feel like it’s the same dozen readers helping to carry this thing consistently. I love and appreciate it very much but if we can spread the weight among more folks I think all of our backs will feel better lmao
SPEAKING of those preorders, my printer let me know last night the rest of the books are ready! We’re gonna try and get down to Denver and pick em up early next week, and then all outstanding orders will go out shortly after, and THEN Volume 4 will finally be available in the shop.
