Thank you for waiting! This starts chapter 30, hot damn. Here are some announcements.
I don’t have a graphic for it just now, but we’re trying a new version of Boss Rush Updates (in the past, Boss rush was what we did during arc finales when the art got so complex I couldn’t stick to a regular update schedule. This comic USED to have a real update schedule, when I was healthier/not spending several years in one long rolling emergency and then recovering from said emergency, Wild). This one I’m calling Feast or Famine; selfishly, I would really like for some of these beats to land well, and based on ten years of reader feedback I do not anticipate they will if they go up page by page. Chapter 30 will be posted a scene at a time, with multiple page updates of different lengths depending on where I feel it’s best to cut them. As I’ve done before with batch updates I’ll try to give you a date or at least a ballpark for when to expect it in advance. The next update will be four pages, and I’m aiming for September 8th. If my chronic pain acts up or something else happens, I’ll let you know here. I’ve worked very hard to make this a good payoff, thank you very much for hanging in there to the end of this arc despite everything in the world trying to stop me getting there.
Other news!
I had to take a little extra time this month typesetting the novel for print, but it’s getting there; here’s a tentative release schedule. We’re past the point where new folks can sign up for book rewards, but if you’d like to set up a monthly donation and get your name in the supporter credits or volunteer as an advance reader you can do that right up to the end of September! More about all that stuff in the next newsletter.
Speaking of support, we hit the very first funding milestone last month! Like, the first funding milestone EVER for KC, hell yeah! I’ve set up some new icons over there on the left (don’t worry, links to a webcomic reading list will be back!), and I went over the goals for this comic again in the last newsletter, which you can peruse here if you like. Thank y’all so much!
In other housekeeping news, I’m slowly getting the archive pages caught up to the comic, and I went in and touched up the character playlists on the music page; at some point my player broke, so some of the extra ones might look a little funky, it’s on my to-do list. I also finally added a shiny new button to the top of the homepage that leads to the shinesurge site, so now the comic home and the novel/author hub are linked up. Hopefully any new folks who come around through the novels will be able to find what they want!
Lastly, I forgot to post the new postcard photo here on the front page! It’s Novel Themed for obvious reasons, still really enjoying giving Mile High Engage a new coat of paint.
