A recent dream for her, but it’s been a bit longer for the rest of us.
Wereael
oh.. OH. I suppose having your own star to draw energy from, and matter I suppose would make you extremely powerful. Like, god tier. That also explains their effective immortality. While a star won’t make you live forever, everything dies eventually, you’ll probably live long enough to harness a new one. And so on, until the heat death of your universe. Before that happens though, you can just hop to a new one. Nifty.
Wereael
I mean, we knew about the star before, but not that they (Crow Gideon et al.) were the ones in control of the star, as opposed to the other way around.
Wereael
But that’s just a theory. A game WEBCOMIC theory! ;p
Aria
Pretty much! Most bodies can’t handle the strain to begin with, so anyone who manages to carry one around is probably a pretty big deal.
That wasn’t totally a confirmation of it being an actual literal star was it?
I mean, as in something approximately 1,000,000 – 1,000,000,000 x Earth size IN their head?
I get that it refers to a real star but I’m guessing the sense in which it’s INSIDE them is rather more complex, since that would require major godlike readjustment of the nature of space-time to make that work on a physical level.
Aria
It gets a liiiittle more explanation eventually, but since Hazard’s probably not gonna talk much (and Phin as a narrator is kinda squicky) I can probably explain his situation a bit. THE GIST IS it’s a very very tiny fragment stuck in a very very tiny dimension inside the body of the afflicted. It’s sort of like Tardis logic, if you put your arm through Hazard’s eye socket you’re reaching into a little pocket of subspace and it’ll go much farther than where his skull stops. He’s bigger on the inside haha. It does take a considerable amount of doing for this to be done, though, so you’re not far off. Gideon and people like him tend to a lot of time around stuff like Hastur, gotta even the playing field somehow.
Also, these stars are “alive,” so they’re probably helping to make the space for them and their host more accommodating to some extent. They’re not usually pleased with working with human vermin and like to make themselves comfortable however they can, which is why it’s in the best interest of the human to form a good relationship with theirs.
I thought it was probably something like that but that does clear up a lot, thanks!
Aria
Hopefully this isn’t considered spoilery, but the next arc is (much shorter) and deals almost exclusively with explaining the mechanics of this bullshit system haha. Thank you for hanging in there with me <3
Now I’m wondering if Gideon is a commander as I thought, Phineas being his “padawan” and all… Do we know this as a fact? I can’t remember… I think maybe I just made it up and it’s not said anywhere.
Wereael
During Abyssinia it was mentioned that Gideon was a commander, something about how Jo and Raven didn’t like commanders.
Aria
This is correct! Gideon is most definitely a commander.
So… Well… Let’s see… I thought Broken Spectre was kind of a star bounded to Phineas because she’s a commander. Thought it was thus for all commanders. Could Gideon have two stars, one in the eye and one his equivalent of Broken Spectre? Maybe those are quite different things then? Huh, I’m lost wondering…
I honestly don’t know who’s going to win this fight. On one hand you’ve got Phineas, a Commander who supposedly always wins if she believes she can, which would in turn make you believe you can always win.
But then theres Hazard, former satellite to a universes strongest Commander, somehow evaded the blazing guardians, survived a apocalypse event which destroyed a universe, has been researching for the better part of a century specifically how to kill Commanders, and has a god-entity trapped in his skull.
